If you’re reading this, chances are we already know each other. Maybe we’ve worked together before, or had a conversation about leadership, culture, or the reality of running a business when the pressure starts to wear you down.

You’ve probably seen me mention wavemind — but maybe you’re still wondering what it actually means to work with me.

This post is here to explain that. No jargon. No fluff. Just the real story.

Who This Is For

wavemind is designed for founders, business owners and MDs of small to mid-sized companies who are stuck, stretched or spinning too many plates. If you're leading through change, feeling the strain of culture drift, or simply wondering where the joy went, this is for you.

Most of my clients care deeply about their people and want to do things the right way, but they’re often carrying the whole business on their shoulders. This is one-to-one support to help you lead with more clarity, confidence and balance, and to love your business again.

The Philosophy

With over 30 years of experience, I’ve worked from the shop floor on minimum wage to sitting on the Board as an owner. I’ve seen leadership at its best and at its worst.

Like a magpie, I’ve picked up the good bits from every role, every mentor, every turning point, and blended them into a practical, human approach to leadership that actually works. That’s what wavemind is built on.

This isn’t management theory or coaching-by-numbers. It’s grounded, honest support for people who lead businesses and want to get it right, not just for themselves, but for their teams and customers too.

What Working with Me Looks Like

We start with a proper conversation. No pitch. Just time to talk about where you are, what’s working, what’s not, and what might need to change.

From there, we meet once a month for a year. That rhythm is deliberate.

Monthly gives you time to reflect and act between sessions without being overloaded. Research from Harvard shows that leaders who reflect regularly show better performance, stronger resilience, and clearer thinking.

A full year gives us the space to make lasting change. According to the Institute for Leadership & Management, leadership development that takes place over 6–12 months leads to stronger behaviour change and better long-term results. It takes time to build trust, shift habits, and get your business working for you again.

Every session is shaped around you. I don’t arrive with a plan. I help you think clearly and create your plan, based on what matters most right now.

We talk culture, strategy, people, mental health, performance, whatever needs attention. It’s not theoretical. It’s practical, direct, and personal built with over thirty years of leadership experience.

What You’ll Get from This

Running a business can wear you down. My job is to help you get back to what made it worth doing in the first place.

When we work together, you’ll get:

  • Clarity — Cut through the noise and focus on what really matters

  • Confidence — Stop second-guessing and start leading with intent

  • Headspace — Think clearly and make decisions without the pressure

  • Energy — Feel in control and lead without burning out

But most of all, you’ll start to love your business again.

That means waking up with purpose. Feeling proud of the team around you. Leading with clarity and consistency, not firefighting every day. It’s not about being perfect. It’s about making things better, for you and for everyone who depends on you.

Why It Works

A few years ago, I worked full-time with a FTSE 250 company that was stuck in a three-year cycle of underperformance. I joined the executive team full-time, working five to six days a week for three months. By the end, the CEO said we’d achieved more in those three months than the company had in the previous three years.

That level of intensity worked because the business needed it. These days, I work differently. I only support one or two clients at a time, so I can give them my full attention, the best of my thinking, and the outcomes they need.

As a founder and business owner myself, I understand the weight of responsibility. I know what it feels like when performance slips, when your team is looking to you for answers, and when you're lying awake wondering how to fix it all.

But I also know how powerful it is to have the right support at the right time. And I never stop loving the work, especially when I see someone reconnect with their purpose and start leading with confidence again.

Ready to Talk?

If any of this strikes a chord, it’s easy to get in touch.

You can call, text or email — whatever suits you. No pressure. No awkward follow-up. Just a real conversation about where you are and where you want to be.

And if you’re not quite ready to talk, why not start by taking our Culture Review Survey? It’s a quick, honest way to assess where your business stands today. No cost. No catch. Just a helpful starting point.
